Луна в ночь с 12 на 13 июля достигла максимальной фазы сближения с Землей и визуально казалась необычайно огромной. Эта тема стала одной из наиболее популярных в соцсетях, которые наполнились фото с разных точек планеты.
Суперлуние — это неофициальный астрономический термин, означающий перигей Луны — точки максимального сближения с Землей. В ночь на воскресенье это явление совпало с полнолунием, в результате чего Луна стала казаться на 14% больше и на 30% ярче. В перигее спутник Земли находится на расстоянии около 350 тысячах километрах от Земли, что примерно на 50 тысяч километров ближе обычного.
В следующий раз суперлуние можно будет наблюдать 10 августа.
